Lowe, S. On~line in Oz (96.08) One of the early attempts to provide a mass-market guide to the common features of the major online services available in Australia in late 1995. References to the Whalesong Foundation. It is interesting to note to note the prominence of Apple Computers' "E-World', Australia's OZEmail, the Passport service from Compuserv and the newly launched "On Australia" network from Microsoft. Chapters include "so how do you get connected, Email, Surfing the web and downloading. All pretty common fare butnevertheless the text is clearly set out, with good use oof simple Web Site screen grabs to give the first time reader an example of what to expect. The second section of the book investigates in detail Compuserv, eWORLD and the Micorsoft Network On Australia. Chapters outline in detail the comparative benefits and risks/costs of the networks involved. The title concludes with the obligatory listing of reference sites and "must visit" sites. A simple introduction to the rapidly developing online world. .
