The Whalesong Foundation was created in the early 1990's to assist educational communities both within Australia and overseas to use the medium of online telecommunications technology to assist young people of school age to develop a greater understanding of the issues facing their generation and to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to become empowered and effective members of their future communities.

The Broadford GAIA Centre

The concept of the "Gaia Centre" was developed in 1990-91 at Broadford Secondary College, in Victoria, Australia, and took its name from the work of Jim Lovelock and his notion of "gaia" the living earth. The original purpose of the 'gaia centre" was to encourage and model wholistic online learning and teaching methodologies.

The WHALESONG FOUNDATION was a not-for-profit organisation dedicated solely to the development of the GLOBALISATION of teaching and learning. Over its five year life in invested over 3 Million dollars in cash and in kind resources to support these goals.
