Slade,Bolton,Dale,Thatcher (eds) Information Technology: Issues and Implications (95.09) A resource book for senior students about the effect information technology can have on individuals, organizations and societies Structured with individual authors (of which I am one)contributions, the text is divided in to 37 chapters, each addressing unique aspects of the "issues" surrounding the implementation of information technologies. The authors believe that students should be encouraged to contemplate the consequences of change from a range of perspectives. Topics include privacy, computer crime, the challenge facing traditional schools in an online world, change management, infoglut, the principles of user pays, ethics, censorship and law and order, just to name a few. In essence this book does its job. It provides senior Victorian students with a series of wider reading topics. Simple text..question format provides a structured if limited way to enage students in the issues being covered. Perhaps the biggest weakness in this text is the omission of networked references. The book does not contain any email links, URL's or FTP sites to direct the student in to the environment being discussed.
