Coppinger, W & Hocking A. The Global Classroom report -Year 1(95.02) ....that attention should be directed to the human dimension, which promises to provide the key to more successful implementation of information technology in schools. It believes the issue should be addressed through structured professional development programmes based on information technology and an understanding of such matters as learning, change and the factors that affect school culture. This quote, from the Victorian Government Working Party Technologies for Enhanced Learning Page 4 Sept 94 succinctly summarised the scope and intent of our ambitious 2 year project. I*EARN and the collaborative online community it represents, is designed to provide a model and framework from which teachers with little or no experience in online technologies can begin to assess, through real practice, the benefits and challenges facing them and their students. This year begins with the state-wide training of 100 schools, truly one of the most exciting and inspriing opportunities I had to date in my teachning career. My colleague Andrew Hocking and I have traveled to all 100 schools to meet and work personally with the teachers and student involved.
