New Scientist. Nearby star (150 light years away) could go super nova soon and thereby destroy all life on Earth. Of course, soon could be millions of years from now. These objects may be more common than previously believed. Our position at the edge of the galaxy, far from the densely populated galactic core, may explain why we have made it so far.
