UK Town Chooses Wireless Over Wired. A UK village wanted high-speed access but couldn't round up enough customers to convince BT to build there: BT said the town would have to have 5,000 subscribers and as only 3,500 people live there, the requirement was a bit unrealistic. So villagers secured a grant and decided to pay a wireless service provider to build a network that uses Wi-Fi to offer Internet to residents. Surprisingly, the wireless network turns out to be more expensive to build then installing ADSL....
